Crave was created from a love for doughnuts. Handmade from scratch using locally sourced, quality ingredients. We wanted to bring our passion to each and every bite by incorporating something different and fresh to the classic doughnut that we all know and love. We have so much fun creating delicious doughnuts with new and exciting flavours!

What inspired you to start your own business?
Starting my own business was always a big dream of mine. The goal of creating something special that my community would love was the most appealing aspect

What helped you when working with BACD and how did it impact you and your business?
BACD has been such a wonderful resource to have during the start-up period of Crave. The knowledge of the mentors and the guest speakers have always been so helpful! BACD has impacted my business in so many ways. The resources provided have exceptionally helped our growth, knowledge, and confidence of running a small business in Durham Region.

Tell us about the growth of your business. How many employees, locations etc?
Our business has grown so much over the last 2 years. In the first year, my partner, Jeremy and I were only involved, and we were making our doughnuts from our home kitchen. Fast forward, we have our own brick and mortar shop in Whitby with 4 employees. We will continue to work towards growing our business to the next steps!

What marketing strategies have been successful for you?
social media and thinking outside the box has always been our go to tactics. We love to be different!

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own business?
Do it for the right reasons! It’s important to be passionate about your business. Never be ashamed to ask for help when you need it, and make use of the resources our community has. Hard work pays off and longevity is key in small business!
