As a member of LMI Canada, the industry leader in productivity improvement and leadership development, I will work directly with you and your organization to achieve success in specific high impact areas.

As a leader, your time is extremely valuable to your organization and your productivity as a leader not only impacts your performance but also the performance of those you lead.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have always wanted to help people and their organizations to achieve success. This is how I am wired.

I actually started my company in 2005 but then a great job opportunity appeared, followed by another and so I put off starting up my business until 2019.

After gaining leadership experience over 30 years in fortune 100 companies and a privately owned firm I have a great deal of personal hands on experience to offer my clients.

In addition to my leadership expertise, I am a Lean expert and Six Sigma black belt with numerous completed projects that delivered millions of dollars to the bottom line.

So the combination of Leadership and Process Improvement experience combined with being a representative of LMI Canada enables me to provide a very powerful value proposition to help leaders and their organizations.

What helped you when working with BACD and how did it impact you and your business?
Working with the BACD helped me to fast track my business ramp up period.

They provided excellent support through spaced consultation sessions and they suggested various networking events to join.

Patrice was so supportive and helpful. Her input and advice was invaluable!

Tell us about the growth of your business. How many employees, locations etc?

For the most part I am a solo business entrepreneur with one assistant.

The growth of my business has been steady and solid which is my preference as this allows me to devote quality time for my clients.

What marketing strategies have been successful for you?
Building a strong website and online presence was a key building block. As a B2B business, I utilize LinkedIn as a key social media platform with some Facebook activity as well.

LMI Canada (Leadership Management International) has a strong brand and as a representative of LMI Canada, I leverage my affiliation.

Networking through boards of trade and chambers of commerce has rendered solid contacts and referrals.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own business?

First of all make sure you start a business which is aligned with your life passion and have fun! Create a mission statement and vision for your business up front. Create a visual image that you have documented (pictures, images, and words) and can refer to periodically.

Create a strong business plan and ensure you know your market niche and value proposition. Get as much business advice that you can through business associations like the BACD and all of your business and personal contacts.

Starting a business is hard work. So make sure you maintain a positive attitude and stick to your plan but be prepared to pivot as you learn what is required. Be persistent and do not get discouraged. You can do it!
